Animal Planet films turtle rescue efforts in Vietnam

Back in November 2017 we were pleased to have the Australian veterinarian, television personality and author, Dr Chris Brown, and the film crew from the Animal Planet Channel at the Turtle Conservation Centre (TCC), Cuc Phuong National Park. During this trip to Vietnam, as part of the television show 'Vet Gone Wild', Dr Chris visited the three rescue centres at the National Park, including the TCC, Endangered Primate Rescue Centre, and Save Vietnam’s Wildlife Rescue Centre.

While at the TCC, Dr Brown worked with Dr Mike Selig of Cleveland Metroparks Zoo (CMZ) to perform surgeries on two endangered Big-headed turtles which were transferred to the TCC from a large confiscation of tortoises and freshwater turtles from northern Vietnam.  Both animals had fish hooks inside which had most likely being used to capture them and surgery was required to remove the hooks.

On the 2nd July 2018, the film was aired on the Animal Planet Channel, namely Episode 4, Vietnam’s Endangered Animals. We hope you enjoy the film and please support our important work on turtle rescue in Vietnam. Link for Vet Gone Wild Shows: https://www.animalplanet.com/tv-shows/vet-gone-wild/

We would like to thanks Dr Chris Brown, the film crew and Dr Mike Selig for their special visit and help. We also thank Cuc Phuong National Park and other supporters of the continuous rescue, treatment, and rehabilitation efforts.
